French at HKU
Interactions HKU-Montpellier
For this project, students of French at HKU and students pursuing a Master in French as a Foreign Language (FLE) at Université Paul Valéry, Montpellier III, in France had the opportunity to discuss a set of prepared topics in French through a series of online interactions.
The online interaction were made through the popular video call application Skype, enabling participants to have a one to one conversation as well as to exchange text messages. The There were a total of three discussions during the semester.
Topics for discussion were presented in the form of short press articles comprising a series of discussion points. This material was available for preparation prior to each discussion.
Objectives
This project aims at giving students of FREN3002 the opportunity to exchange views and opinions with students in France as well as to improve their language proficiency in French through oral and written interactions.
Outcomes
Having completed this project, students should be able to:

Apply the knowledge and skills acquired throughout these interactions to further communicate in French on an extended range of topics.

Discuss important cultural and societal aspects and articulate their own viewpoint in French.

Use the insight gained on the topics covered to analyse and discuss cultural differences and commonalities.
