20-23 June

Organized by French Consulate in Hong Kong and the Alliance Française, la Fête de la Musique is an opportunity to enjoy different music styles, ranging from Fusion Jazz to Classical Music. All the concerts of this exciting and vibrant euppvent will be free of charge.

Initiated in France in 1982, la Fête de la Musique has now spread to more than 340 cities in 110 countries to become the biggest musical event worldwide. Thousands of musicians and millions of listeners in the world celebrate this music fiesta on every June 21st, the day of the Summer Solstice in the northern hemisphere.

13 June- 29 July 2007

The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong and Macau and the University Museum and Art Gallery, The University of Hong Kong are pleased to present the exhibition "Popular Prints from China and Epinal, France".

The exhibition features over eighty prints from France dating to the 19th
century, and from China, dating from the Qing dynasty (1644-1911) to the
Republican period. Viewers can appreciate and recognize the distinctive folk
arts from the two nations.

The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong offers this year again up to 6 scholarships to Hong Kong and Macao students. This programme is named after Alexandre Yersin, a famous French scientist from the Institut Pasteur who discovered the plague bacillus in Hong Kong in 1894.

The scholarships cover fields such as Business and management, Law, Political Sciences, Science, Engineering, Design and Architecture, Fine Arts. Applications close on April 21, 2007

Programme at Le Rideau, 24 March 2007;

3.30-5.30pm : Interactive theatre show, La Caravane des 10 mots, with 2 French actors who will create, with the audience participation, a show around the 10 words of the French Speaking celebration 2007

6.30-8.00pm : Announcement of the posters, comics and songs contest results.The winners of the song contest will present their works and a cocktail will be served.

8.30pm-9.30pm  : Concert by Canadian artist Pascal Gemme, one of Quebec's most highly-regarded fiddle players, interpreting traditional songs/melodies and his own compositions with a unique, unmistakable style.

9.30-until the end :  DJ P-Air will make you dance and sing with an eclectic set full of unforgettable and crazy French-speaking songs!

Eilidh Gillespie moved to Hong Kong two years ago to take up the position of Principal Flute with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, having just graduated with distinction from the Royal College of Music in London. In this event, renowned Hong Kong pianist Eva Lue, also trained at the Royal College of Music, will join Eilidh to present an attractive French program featuring works by Poulenc, Messiaen, Martinu, and Enescu.
