The Consulate General of France in Hong Kong offers this year again 6 Excellence Scholarships to Hong Kong and Macao students. This programme is named after Alexandre Yersin, a famous French scientist from the Institut Pasteur who discovered the plague bacillus in Hong Kong in 1894.

The scholarships cover fields such as Business and management, Law, Political Sciences, Science, Engineering, Design and Architecture, Fine Arts.

    The University of Hong Kong Libraries is mounting this exhibition in collaboration with Dr Geoffrey Blowers of the Department of Psychology. 

    The exhibition presents a history of psychoanalytic activities in France including representative figures in the psychoanalysis of children, the thoughts of Sigmund Freud; the contributions to psychoanalysis by Lacques Lacan and the activities he organized under the auspices of l'Ecole Freudienne de Paris; the relationship between philosophy and psychoanalysis and the challenges the latter has to face.

    As the Education and Manpower Bureau (EMB) is considering a major overhaul of the Hong Kong education system, this paper calls for the introduction of Foreign Languages in local secondary schools as an elective subject. This proposal is promoted by the Hong Kong Association of French Teachers.

    Attention, derniers jours :

    Le TCF – DAP est un test d’évaluation des connaissances en français obligatoire pour entrer en première année dans une université française. Ce test n’est organisé qu’une fois par an à Hong Kong.

    Le test comprend les épreuves suivantes : compréhension orale / compréhension écrite / structure de la langue / expression écrite (argumentation et commentaire d'un graphique)

    Les épreuves auront lieu le 24 janvier 2005

    Inscription (660HK$) avant le 30 décembre à la réception de l’Alliance Française, Centre de Wanchai (123 Hennessy Road) ou de Jordan (52 Jordan Road).

    The 27th edition of the French Cinepanorama will take place in December (3-19).

    The annual festival features 20 films this year, of which 10 have been released in 2004. The festival is presented by the Alliance Française de Hong Kong, in association with the Consulate General of France and local sponsors.

    La Patrouille de France, the aerobatic team of the French Air Force, will be demonstrating in Hong Kong for the first time ever on October 20th. Team members are elite pilots selected from different fighting units of the French Air Force.

    The Language Centre will offer proficiency courses in French (as well as in Arabic, German, Italian, Portuguese, Spanish and Thai) to the general public from October 2004. The courses cover several levels (Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced). Applications are now invited until the end of September.

    Arts Faculty courses: September 8.

    Other Faculties / Certificate courses: September 20.

    Enrolment :

    BA Courses - First Year : the Arts Faculty Counselling Day is scheduled on August 24. From August 23 to 30, the course selection online system is available to students. Course selection advice is provided during this period, please contact Ms Marie Li, room KK805.

    BA Courses - Second and Third Year : from August 9 to 16, the course selection online system is available to students. Course selection advice is provided during this period, please contact Mr S. Holtermann, room KK611.

    Certificate courses : Enrolment period for all levels starts in the third week of August and lasts until September 3. Interviews for First Year applicants will be conducted on August 30 (Monday), from 10 am to 12 am and 2 pm to 4 pm, Room KK1121 (KK Leung Building). Please contact the Language Centre General Office, 7th Fl. KK Leung Building for application forms.
